Daina Dieva is a sound and performance artist, curator and researcher from Lithuania. Daina Dieva's sound is a layered, multi-faceted mixture of voice, effected guitar patterns, noises, drones and various instruments. She experiments with field recordings, as well as, in recent years, with feedback loops using only mixer and a couple of loopers for (very) noisy live performances, sound-system allowing.

The project is active since 2008. During this time, DD has played live in various events - from small scale appearances in underground bars and venues in Lithuania, Italy, Germany, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, Poland, to bigger scale festivals, such as Tundra (LT), Mėnuo Juodaragis (LT), Wroclaw Industrial (PL), Skanu Mezs (LV). Since the outset, she has been working on sound for performance art and film. Since 2016 an additional compositional line of her soundworks is creating dance for contemporary dance in international setting (DE, PT) and, occasionally, theater.

2018-2022 she initiated and curated Matters. Platform for Industrial Culture (as part of Kaunas ECoC 2022) aimed at caring for those that associate themselves with the industrial culture at any and all levels of association. In the framework of this programme, she organised artist residencies, undisciplined (a)symposium, a series of workshops aimed for emerging artists, support programmes for artists during the pandemic, sound events in non-habitual venues accross the cityscape, produced several albums representing the work of artists involved in Matters and curated a thematic mediatheque within the reading room of Kaunas Artists House.

At present she combines her research practice in/between the disciplines of anthropology and art, particularly focusing on caring accross species lines and relationships in the context of global climate disaster. This results in transdisciplinary approaches in both spheres she is working in, that of writing and that of art.
